A skill is a small, reusable piece of knowledge with a clear name. Instill stores them, versions them, and serves them over the open MCP standard, so they show up inside whatever assistant someone is already using.
Because it is built on an open protocol rather than a plugin for one product, adding a new client is configuration rather than a rewrite, and nothing is locked to a single vendor.
